2023 Australian Bluewater Freediving Classic

The Classic is now around the corner: March 18th-19th 2023! Thwaites Marine is once again a proud sponsor for this event! Organised by the Coffs Harbour Bluewater Freedivers Club, the Australian Bluewater Freedivers Classic minimises the pressure on the local fish community by running in a stretch of coast of 300 km, between Evans Head in the north, to South West rocks in the south. There is a list of target species that includes mostly fast-growing pelagic species that are not territorial. The limit amount of fish allowed to be weighed in is only 5. This promotes a more thoughtful diving, curbing the style of fishing competitions in Australia towards more sustainable style, that can be enjoyed long into the future.
