Women Who Sail Australia (WWSA) has held the Gathering on the Bay 2024 from the 5th to the 7th of April 2024 at the Nelson Bay Golf Club, Port Stephens, NSW. The three-day event was a great opportunity for like-minded women to come together and share their love for sailing. Participants enjoyed various presentations, workshops, seminars, and social events. The topics covered included diesel engine maintenance, deck hardware, turtle rescue and citizen science, weather knowledge, mental health awareness, and much more.
Keynote speakers for the event included renowned solo circumnavigator Jeanne Socrates, sailing instructor Annette Hesselmens, and Lisa Blair, who circumnavigated Antarctica and Australia. Other notable speakers at the event included Annika Thomson, Mel Yeomans, Lia Pereira, Sheenagh Neill, Michele Ableson, Sue Freeman, Sonia Robinson, Viki Moore, and Lily Barlow. The event also featured a dinner with Kay Cottee on Saturday, a sunset dinner cruise on Sunday, April 7th, and a ferry ride with breakfast at Tea Gardens on April 8th.
