Thwaites Marine has looked after my 31 Black Watch for the last 5 years. This is my first diesel powered boat and something I was not familiar with. Ben has always been very willing to answer questions I had (which has been plenty) and make suggestions that are focused on creating a service plan and a routine that ensures nothing is missing in relation to maintenance. Our first encounter with Ben was when he was assigned the job of installing a Beta 14hp engine in our sailing boat four years ago. Having a Yanmar 8hp engine in our boat since its launch in 1978, we were unsure how difficult it would be to change over to a more modern engine but Ben surprised us with not only his ability to engineer a solution to fit a completely different shape of engine but the workmanship was exceptional. He was patient and thorough, ensuring that the mounts would be perfectly level and the engine perfectly balanced on the shaft. After over 25 years of frustration with our old engine, our new engine hasn't skipped a beat in its performance and is so quiet! Ben continues to service our engine annually and remains very dedicated to follow up on whatever work he performs. As a marine engineer Ben was also able to fully service our Fleming wind vane with new bushings and freeing up a seized part. He has also installed a new fuel tank to replace our old stainless tank. No matter what Ben tackles, he gives 100% in both his work and his service, including the superior staff he works with who are also fully committed to living up to the Thwaites Marine reputation for quality work and service. Thwaites Marine first came to our rescue when we limped into Yamba NSW in our Maritimo A60 on one engine. Ben and his staff were professional, considerate and observant of our boating time frame. The Stacer Crossfire 519 SC Paired with The Brand New Evinrude 115 HO G2 is a very stable boat combined with great fuel efficiency and heaps of power and torque to also have fun either towing a mate on water ski's or on a wake board to being about to tow a few friends at a time on a multi person tube. Ben and the team have been Marine Engineers for a long time they offer plenty of knowledge and will help you in any way they can either with Repairs to your current boat, to upgrading the motor or Upgrading to a brand-new Boat and Motor Package. If I ever have to upgrade to a bigger boat in the future I will make them my first port of call.
